Camp Denali, at the 89-mile marker in Denali National Park, is reopen, welcoming guests back with new fly-in access with flightseeing. More in store in 2023 includes a summer speaker series, wildlife observation and guided nature excursions.
Available this summer only by private charter, Camp Denali guests can take a flightseeing tour of the area to view glaciers, mountains, tundra lowlands and more from the air upon arrival. If possible, it also ventures a close-up fly-by of Denali and Alaska Range glaciers and high peaks.
The camp’s summer Special Emphasis Series brings specialists like biologists, ornithologists, conservationists and more to share their expertise on field excursions, guided outings and evening programming. This season’s lineup features:
- David Sibley, ornithologist, author and illustrator, June 9–15, Bird Identification & The Art of Observation
- Danielle Stickman, arctic landscape director, The Wilderness Society, July 7–9, Indigenous Stewardship and Land Conservation in Alaska
- George Bumann, sculptor, wildlife biologist and author, July 28–August 3, Entering the Conversation of Nature: The Art & Science of Animal Language
- David Shaw, conservation photographer, Aug. 28–31 and Sept. 1–3, Autumn Photography Workshop
- Kesler Woodward, artist and professor of Art Emeritus, University of Alaska, Fairbanks, Sept. 4–7 and 8–10, Painting in the North
Daily, guests can enjoy guided off-trail hikes, canoeing, biking, fishing, berry picking, touring the on-site greenhouse, photography, an on-site natural history resource room and more.
