W Washington D.C.’s newly renovated POV lounge and terrace is offering cocktails with a view, a hot commodity in the nation’s capital. The new bar/lounge was inspired by the capital’s history, and is a playful blend of the city’s architecture and nightlife.
Atop the hotel sits the 5,000-square-foot space with three bars, one full indoor and the other two half-outdoor, half-indoor. POV serves from brunch to happy hour to late-night cocktails. Seating includes communal areas, banquets and seating nooks.
The design elements incorporate the history of the area, from a 50-foot long red tape wall (a playful take on Washington’s bureaucracy), to the red, blue, white, silver and gold hues. Portraits of political figures line the walls, and LED-light, backlit molding represents the White House’s cornices. Street artist Aiko created a mural of D.C. landmarks. A rounded bar resembles the Capitol’s dome.
