There’s a new Airbnb-like service for cars called Turo, a peer-to-peer car rental service connecting local car owners with travelers in need of a car.
The innovative Turo car rental marketplace enables local car owners to earn extra money while providing travelers with the ideal vehicle for their next adventure. Travelers are able to choose from a unique selection of nearby cars, ranging from an F-150 truck on moving day, to a Tesla for a luxurious weekend away, to a classic VW bus for a road trip.
Turo was recently rebranded to its new name from RelayRides and secured new funding to introduce a new name as well as a redesigned experience. The company is the leader in the U.S. market for peer-to-peer car rental, with a presence in more than 2,500 cities and 300 airports with plans to grow.
“As a memorable, aspirational brand that inspires adventure, Turo positions us squarely within travel and tourism,” said Andre Haddad, CEO, Turo. “We envision a world where travelers can rent the perfect vehicle for their next adventure no matter where they are — a world where car owners transform their idle cars from depreciating assets into earning engines and help fuel travelers’ adventures.”
