Finding the perfect weekender bag takes a bit of research and a lot of mental planning. You don’t want something too big, especially if you’ll face airplane restrictions in terms of size and weight, and you also don’t want a bag that can be filled to the brim so much you’ll have to lug it from car to train to bus to whatever other form of transportation you choose to take. The best weekender bag is a tote small enough to easily transport but spacious enough to hold a weekend’s worth of clothes and toiletries.

Lo & Sons sells a weekender bag that fits all of the above qualifications and in which travelers can neatly pack away all their necessities under a stylish and durable canvas exterior. Appearing as an over-the-shoulder bag, the top portion of the bag actually unzips like a carry-on wheeled bag to reveal a secret bottom compartment for storing flatly folded clothes or important documents.

Inside the main compartment is a zippered pocket for valuables, plus a large storage space for anything else a traveler wishes to pack. The adjustable straps allow the bag to be worn lower on the hip (messenger style) or higher under the arm for increased comfort.

The L&S Catalina Deluxe weekender bag comes in five colors of washed canvas (dove grey, thistle, teal blue, forest green or midnight ash) and one color of organic canvas (natural). The large size measures 18 inches tall (plus canvas handles of 11 inches) and 18.5 inches long, weighs just two pounds and costs $148.
