If you’re flying through Munich Airport this season, stop by the airport’s Winter Market, an annual highlight for visitors both localand abroad. From Nov. 21 through Dec. 27, Munich Airport Center is transformed into a spectacular winter extravaganza featuring shopping, dining, skating and other fun, seasonal activities.
Visitors can peruse more than 40 different gift stalls for everything from traditional German Christmas décor and holiday ornaments to festive treats and baked goods. In the middle of the two terminals where the market is held, a large skating rink and an out-of-the-ordinary version of Bavarian curling can be found for those wishing to test their winter sports skills.
Several different events will be featured throughout the market’s five-week run. Live music, workshops, appearances from Santa, figure skating performances and children’s activities are all available. A new addition to the Winter Market is the daily occurrence of the popular twilight airport tours, which feature visits to the runways, cargo terminal, hangars and more. There’s even a special separate tour for children.
The Winter Market is open each day from Nov. 21 through Dec. 27, 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. (except for Christmas Eve, when closing time is moved to 5:00 p.m.).
