While some people are planning European ski trips, others can’t wait to escape the colder climes and replenish their vitamin D levels with a holiday somewhere sunnier.
At the beginning of the year there are only a few places that still offer bright sunny weather in Europe. The following destinations offer Easter sun on a budget.
The Spanish region of Andalucia is a beacon for holidaymakers all year-round, and the charming city of Seville hosts massive Holy Week parades. Take in the culture before escaping to the beach for some relaxation.
Gozo may be the smaller, lesser-known sister of Malta, but it’s perfect for some Easter sun. Temperatures hover around 18 degrees Celsius and there is little rain.
Sticking with islands, Sicily is a gorgeous option. Amazing local cuisine and decent weather make this Italian island a wonderful Easter getaway.
The Canary Islands are also great options, with frequent flights and good infrastructure. Tenerife may be slightly overdeveloped for some tastes, so book a trip to Lanzarote unless you are looking for the full package holiday experience.
There is no shortage of options for an Easter break, but obviously sticking to southern Europe is still the best idea for sunseekers. Further north, the chances of rain spoiling your break are still slightly too high for comfort. If you want to take a slight risk, the south coast of France has a lot to offer.
