Durban is South Africa’s melting pot of cultures on the coast. With a rapidly expanding economy, it is also becoming a nightlife destination thanks to the country’s newfound taste for electronic music. Here are three clubs worth checking out.
Absolute
This nightlife hub on Florida Road is one of the city’s favorites, with its contemporary style and top-notch visual and sound system. Absolute regularly has nights for underground club music while showcasing headliners like R3hab and Coco Loco.
WaveHouse
You haven’t been to a beach club like this before. WaveHouse first started in Durban as a skate and water park, featuring 4,000 square meters of ramps, two FlowRiders and a D-Rex, which creates the world’s largest stationary wave. While WaveHouse is primarily an extreme sports park, the place has become known for having great music as well. Their nighttime concert series attracted the likes of Robin Schulz, Pleasurekraft, EDX and more.
Origin
Spread across three floors of the Winston Hotel, Origin is a South African raver’s wonderland with multiple dance floors, chill-out areas, balconies and a rooftop garden. The club has an eclectic taste, playing everything from funk to techno and even getting top trance acts like Cosmic Gate.
