Even when you stay at a luxury resort, you’re not guaranteed a perfect experience. A recent comparison from Compare My Jet, a website allowing travelers to search for and compare private aviation options, looked at a compilation of data from TripAdvisor and booking.com to uncover the most common complaints at luxury, 5-star properties around the world.
The most common complaints, the comparison found, include complaints a hotel is overpriced or of poor value for the money; its rooms are uncomfortable or outdated; or the facilities are lacking. Looking at online reviews for 5-star properties, the comparison further discovered Relais Borgo San Pietro in Palazzetto, Italy, had the highest percentage of bad reviews overall; however, that particular property has a very few number of reviews compared to some of the other hotels and resorts included in the comparison.
The comparison looked at the total number of reviews to calculate the percentage of those considered bad. For many of the popular properties with thousands of reviews, like Shangri-La The Shard, The Peninsula Chicago, W Doha and The Oberoi Beach Resort Sahl Hasheesh, those reviews only represent about 2 percent of the reviews overall.
However, the comparison didn’t only look at poor performers. It also found a few properties with zero bad reviews whatsoever. These included Jaya House River Park in Cambodia and Hotel Colline de France in Brazil.
