Within the book’s 200-plus pages, you’ll read about Mexico’s Island of the Dolls, where hundreds of dolls hang from trees in a haunting tableau; the Door to Hell, a long-burning crater in Turkmenistan; and the haunted Gunnuhver Mud Pool in Iceland.

The book is split into six sections, dividing travel sites by their paranormal associations: haunted places, witchcraft, sacred sites, myths and legends, strange nature, and cryptids and creatures. A total of 38 sites are included in the book, scattered across the globe. Each site listing features multiple pages of history and lore, with photos, maps and more.

Atlas of Paranormal Places: A Journey to the World’s Most Supernatural Places by Evelyn Hollow is available Sept. 3, starting at $30.
