Ecuador is one of the most popular countries in South America for adventure travel. It’s home to endless opportunities for outdoor escapades from jungle trekking to mountain climbing and even exploring a few volcanoes. That’s why Active Adventure’s Ecuador Volcano and Jungle Adventure is one of the best ways to explore the region.
The seven-day tour begins in the capital city of Quito, where you’ll meet your guide before embarking on a journey to Cotopaxi, a mountain in the heart of Ecuador’s Valley of the Volcanoes. Here, you’ll stay at a family-run ranch and have the opportunity to lend a hand with chores or simply explore the area on your own.
The next day you’ll partake in epic cycling down the Cotopaxi volcano before heading to Baños, a village in the Rio Pastaza Valley. The town offers excellent opportunities for canyoning, rafting and horseback riding, among other adventures. After leaving Baños you’ll head on a hike through Ecuador’s Amazon jungle lowlands to learn all about the threatened species, explore the rainforest and meet with indigenous locals.
The following day, your trip will take you further in the Amazon where you’ll hike along a stream of waterfalls before ending the evening with a soak in the hot springs. Finally, the adventure ends with a long hike through the Andean grasslands and the Cayambe-Coca Ecological Reserve and a trip back to Quito, where you’ll have plenty of time left to explore the city.
Reservations are open throughout the year and cost $2,999 per person.
