It has been well over half a century since Sir Arthur Conan Doyle penned a story featuring Sherlock Holmes, but the fictional detective remains one of the most famous and most beloved characters in literature.
The great sleuth employed his unmatched powers of deduction to catch criminals in late 19th- and early 20th-century London. Reading Doyle’s stories evokes images of foggy night skies, winding streets and the mystery of times past. Today’s London differs in many ways from Holmes’ London, but visitors can still get a glimpse of what Doyle saw when creating his famous stories by talking a Sherlockian tour of England’s capital city.
Brit Movie Tours offers one of several Sherlock Holmes tours in London. While on the walking tour, guests will explore places featured in Holmes and Watson’s adventures, while also seeing real sites that inspired Doyle during his writing and locations featured in the numerous film and TV adaptations that have been made over the decades.
Brit Movie Tours’ Sherlock Holmes walking tour lasts for two hours and starts outside the Criterion restaurant at Piccadilly Circus, ending at the Strand. The company also offers private BBC Sherlock Black Taxi Tours, as well as private walking tours for one to 20 people or for groups of 21 or more, at varying prices. Visit them online for more information, and happy deducing!
