There are no animals more cherished in Laos than the majestic elephant, and Green Discovery is offering you the opportunity to get up close and personal with these big beasts on an elephant riding and trekking tour in one of the country’s most prestigious tourist destinations.
The elephant trekking adventure starts out in the town of Luang Prabang and heads northeast to the village of Ban Pha Nom, where you’ll get to witness traditional silk weavers in action and maybe purchase a few goods before setting off.
From there, you’ll head to the tomb of the first European to explore Laos, Henri Mouhot, then you’ll be introduced to local tribes so you can get a feel for how the country’s inhabitants live day to day.
The star attraction comes when you reach the famous Tad Sae Waterfall and finally get to interact with the elephants face to face. You’ll hop on board and be swept up on an hour-long ride through the jungle and you’ll get to help feed and possibly bathe them.
Once the ride is over you’ll be ferried back to Luang Prabang to tell your friends all about your trip. It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity that shouldn’t be missed.
