Endure Survival Pen

Although pens do not usually get kitted out with multi-tools as much as knives do, the Endure Survival Pen is one of a small number of products adding extra features to your writing equipment.

In order to maintain the form of a pen, the number of extra functions is quite limited, but the creative folk at Endure still managed to pack in a fire starter, paracord, glass-breaking tip and even a tiny flare launcher.

To start a potentially life-saving fire, disassemble the pen to reveal a ferrocerium rod, which can be struck against the hardened steel pocket clip. Should you find yourself without any tinder, simply remove the core from the paracord and use that to light the fire.

If the other functions are not enough to get you out of any sticky situation, you can call for help by launching a flare into the air. Should you find yourself in such a predicament that your only hope is to call for help, the Endure could end up saving your life. The Endure is a sturdy specimen thanks to its titanium construction, and could be an invaluable addition to your camping gear collection.

NMB Creations, the company responsible for bringing the Endure into existence, is currently raising money for the product on Kickstarter. To get your name on the list to receive a pen, simply pledge $100 or more. The company says that the pens will start shipping in September, should everything go as planned.
