EVA Airways is a growing company, announcing recent expansion efforts throughout the United States. The Taiwan-based company operates clean and efficient flights with few complaints.
It’s no surprise EVA was voted the cleanest airline in Skytrax’s annual World Airline Awards. A recent flight from Seattle to Taipei confirmed this; the airplane was extremely tidy and well kept upon entering.
If you do fly a long-haul flight with EVA, consider upgrading your seat selection to business class. You’ll spend just a bit more money for added comforts like more personal space, more comfortable seats and other amenities.
The food on these flights is above average. You’ll get to choose between a Western-style meal and an Asian-style one, and the food in general is pretty tasty, all things considered. EVA feeds you often, too, with meals and snacks coming at regular intervals, free alcohol offered, and lots of bottled water passed around throughout the flight.
Overall, EVA offers incredibly friendly service, though there was one head-scratching moment on two separate flights. As with all airlines, we were instructed to put our seats and tray tables upright and buckle in for the descent. I closed my window on these flights because the sun was searing through; in both cases a friendly flight attendant instructed me that window shades needed to be raised for descent and take-off. I’ve never heard of that rule, and it seems arbitrary at best; at worst, it allowed more heat and brightness than I welcomed in my jet-lagged state.
