The foundation of any beauty routine is smooth and healthy skin. This is something everyone struggles with at some point in time. There are any number of creams and serums supposed to give you that radiant glow. Spa treatments like acid peels and Botox are meant to achieve perfect skin tone and consistency, but with all of the expense and chemicals, it begs the question: Is there another way? The exfoliator glove might be the last, best hope.

Unlike creams, or even dry brushing, exfoliator mittens are meant to gently (or not so gently) remove the dead skin that builds up over time in order to reveal glowing, healthy skin beneath. There is also a theory that exfoliating your skin in this manner is like exercising the epidermis and may help your skin produce collagen at a healthy rate.

Two of the best exfoliation mittens on the market are the Baiden Mitten and the Turkish Kese Glove. Both are rooted in the bathhouse traditions of Central Europe and the Mediterranean, providing best results after a hot bath (as hot as you can stand) for 15–30 minutes. Use only plain water with nothing more than Epsom salts to prepare the skin. In order to exfoliate properly, move the damp glove down your limbs in a vertical motion. This results in the dead skin sloughing off to reveal great results. Follow this process with a shower as cold as you can stand and in under an hour, you will feel like you just walked out of a bathhouse in the heart of Budapest.
