This year’s event happens in Germany, but many countries in Europe offer some great football museums to get travelers into the soccer mood.
What are some of the best football museums in Europe?
The Greek Football Museum in Chania, Greece, takes the top spot. Free to enter, 95 percent of visitors on TripAdvisor give this museum five stars. The museum features players’ jerseys and memorabilia celebrating Greece’s Euro 2004 triumph.
Over in Belgrade, Serbia, Red Star Museum also ranks high. Costing just €5.10 to enter, this museum lets visitors walk the player’s path to the pitch. Tours are also available.
Soccer fans visiting Scotland can’t miss Scottish Football Museum in Glasgow. A ticket costs less than €6 per person, and the museum features more than 2,000 objects of football memorabilia, including the world’s oldest cap and match ticket from the first official international match of 1872. The museum also includes the world’s oldest existing national trophy, the Scottish Cup.
