What’s more summer-y than a vacation at a lake house? If, however, your summertime travels take you to more urban locales, as opposed to a remote lakeside retreat, you can still get that lake house vibe when in Chicago thanks to Fairmont Chicago, Millennium Park’s new offering. Through Sept. 9, the hotel’s lobby area and bar transform into a Midwest lake house, and you don’t even need to stay at the hotel in order to experience it.
The built-in boathouse and arcade offers lake house-style games like cornhole, while photo opportunities abound thanks to porch swings and sand castles. After you’ve explored the expansive space and taken your photos, though, stick around for the food.
To complement the lobby area and bar’s new looks, the hotel offers a range of seasonal menu items and drinks suitable for the season. Think beef brisket and ribs, fried seafood and shrimp boils accompanied by milkshakes. Summer-ready cocktails, like pineapple margaritas and The Fish Bowl, a drink filled with Curaçao and coconut rum, are accompanied by live entertainment on Friday and Saturday. The seasonal Lake House menu is designed for two diners, and each shareable entree comes with a choice of two cocktails, beers, lemonade or sweet tea, and the milkshake is on the house.
