In its peak bloom in the fall season, Butchart Gardens’ Japanese Garden erupts into bright hues across its acer plants and Japanese maples. Salmon Run

Millions of salmon make their way up streams, creeks and rivers of the Pacific Northwest between mid-October and early December, journeying back to their home pools where a new batch of salmon will soon emerge. Witness this natural phenomenon at Victoria’s Goldstream River, where salmon can be spotted for about nine weeks. Visitors can also support nature education at Goldstream Nature House through its Salmon Run 5k on Oct. 17.
