Family vacations are meant to bring people together and make long-lasting memories with the ones you love. However, a recent travel trend incorporated front-row education into fun family holidays. Even when school is out of session, the learning never stops, but instead of reading about the history of events, kids will get to see where it all happened with their lifelong teachers: their parents.
Educational vacations turn molding minds into global citizens by introducing them to cultures different from their own and allowing them to ask questions, spark their curiosity and acknowledge marked differences from their own daily lives. As a result, they grow up to become more interested in the world around them and more understanding of different backgrounds.
Travel companies have latched onto this travel trend by training guides in places such as Yellowstone National Park, the Alaskan wild and famous sites in United States history. These groups combine education with activities that spark children’s creativity and interest. From biology to history to ecology and beyond, families can learn together while exploring the world’s beautiful scenery and immersing themselves in unknown cultures.
The adventure doesn’t stop in America; cruise lines, hotel resorts and ranches from Canada to Europe have developed educational programs for families. Learning with loved ones fosters memory creation and bonding. Plus, when young people are able to see how an animal lives in nature or where a war battle took place, they are more likely to remember it come test time.
With family educational vacations, the world becomes the classroom.
