If you’re looking for a greasy bite to eat on the go in another country, don’t stick to McDonald’s or Taco Bell. Try something new and go for one of the fast food favorites that haven’t quite made it to America just yet.
While many of the most popular restaurants in Europe and Asia have popped up trial locations in large markets such as New York City and Los Angeles, there are still a few you won’t find anywhere in the States. German fast food chain Nordsee is one of those chains, with more than 400 locations from St. Petersburg to Cairo. Nordsee specializes in seafood and serves up fish sandwiches, fish and chips, sushi and more.
If you’ve ever wanted to eat a hamburger made out of two slices of pizza sandwiching ground beef, tomatoes and pickles, you need to try out Telepizza. This Spain-based pizza chain extended to other European countries, South America, Central America and the Middle East. A great perk? They’ll even let you order your pizza with a side of Ben & Jerry’s.
Wimpy is a UK-based burger joint that branched off of a U.S. chain in the 70s. Since the U.S. version disappeared, the U.K. version flourished, with locations all over the country and extending into South Africa. They serve up huge traditional British breakfasts, burgers, chicken sandwiches, salads and desserts.
The largest burger fast food chain in Finland, Hesburger is located in seven countries. Their menu offerings look a bit like McDonald’s fare, particularly the Double Burger, which appears quite similar to a Big Mac, but they also serve up a few things you won’t find anywhere else, such as a rye burger with a pork filet, soyfingers and a pear milkshake.
