Hyatt Hotels and RLH Properties plan to transform and rebrand Andaz Mayakoba Resort Riviera Maya to Alila Mayakoba, marking Alila’s debut in the Caribbean and Latin America. Andaz Mayakoba will close this March and debut as Alila Mayakoba later this year.
The new resort will be designed and renovated with minimal impact to Mayakoba’s lush jungles and other surrounding environments. The resort is set amongst 148 acres of mangroves teeming with local wildlife and biodiversity. The resort will also take an eco-friendly approach to the renovation process by using locally sourced and reclaimed materials, as well as operating under sustainable tenets once open.
At the new Alila, guests can connect with the natural environment in immersive ways and learn to honor and cherish the environment, much like the ancient Mayans.
The property transformation reduces the number of guestrooms and increases the number of suites to 40 percent of the total inventory, offering wellness-focused accommodations with technology aiming to improve wellbeing. It will also feature indoor and outdoor wellness spaces; intentional programming led by experts and local healers; a renovated spa with outdoor communal hydrotherapy amenities; beautiful gardens for guests programming; and a Temazcal, a traditional Mexican steam bath that supports therapeutic and spiritual wellbeing.
