When most people think of fitness, they imagine rows and rows of treadmills in a sweaty gym. The inventors of Moff Band, the smart wearable band, see things a little bit differently. With sensors capable of playing a variety of different sounds which encourage users to stay fit through interaction with games on a phone or tablet in a real life way. The company, a Japanese-founded start-up that began from a Kickstarter fund, has an interactive free app available on the App Store.
The band comes in kid and adult sizes, making it fun for the whole family. The band itself retails for $55.99, and it is available for purchase here. Some of the sounds available are sports noises (like a baseball hitting a bat), guitar sounds, motorcycle noises or DJ sounds. This allows users to pretend as if they were doing said activity, even if they are in a situation where they cannot feasibly do it. They can still go through all of the motions, acting as if they have a motorcycle or drum set to play around with. This is a next-generation toy for fans of playing the air guitar.
The word moff, according to the company, is literally translated to “a warm, fuzzy feeling”. Although most of us might not typically associate electric guitars and motorcycles with feeling soft and cuddly, Moff Band’s encouragement of imagination in children and adults certainly does.
