They don’t make it like they used to — a popular idiom these days, and in many cases, it holds true. Modern luggage is a notable example, with its cheap materials and poor assemblage. Most suitcases last for less than a decade before starting to deteriorate and fall apart. However, for those looking to spend a little extra on a quality piece of luggage, Globe-Trotter is an ample substitute. Each of their handmade travel suitcases is crafted at their factory just north of London in Hertfordshire, and constructed using the same hammer and nail technique that became popular in the Victorian era. More importantly, their materials age well, making for great lifelong possessions.
Globe-Trotter suitcases come in a large assortment of shapes and sizes, from the Black & Black 33″ Extra Deep Suitcase With Wheels (£910.00), to the Black & Black 9″ Mini Utility (£285.00). The standard Original Black & Black 26″ Suitcase (£720.00) features vulcan fiber corner details, consisting of precisely layered bonded paper, a beechwood frame and light fiberboard panels weighing in at 3.2 kilograms. The 65 by 37 by 19 centimeter design is also available in safari, centenary, orient and cruise styles. Orders often take up to four weeks, and Globe-Trotter has a 14-day exchange policy.
