They say music is a universal language, so why not use it to understand a completely different world? The Gnawa people of Essaouira, Morocco, have long had a rich tradition of using music to celebrate life and a music tour is like having a backstage pass to one of the greatest concerts in the world.
The Gnawa Music Experience through Urban Adventures will give you a front-row seat to performances by some of the most influential and talented musical artists in the region while also teaching you great facts about the history and culture of the area. You’ll meet local musicians and dancers and even partake in traditional dance performances, learn how regional instruments like the guembri are made and sip on some delicious Moroccan tea at the local musical hotspots. You’ll also learn all about the traditional clothing of the Gnawa performers and maybe even seen how they’re made.
Additionally, you’ll have opportunities to chat with locals and do a little shopping during these three-hour tours. They’re offered year-round and open to groups small and large, thought they might not be ideal for families with small children.
