Phrase books and digital translators are necessities of the past now that real-time translators like Google Translate are available. The mobile app uses WiFi or international data to allow travelers to translate both written and audible words at the click of a button.

The easy-to-use translator recently become even easier to use as it is now available offline. Although the traditional Google Translate app can translate up to 105 languages, the languages available to download for offline use only amount to 52. When the Google Translate app is open on an iOS or Android device, a list of languages will display and users will be able to see which languages are available to download and access without connection to WiFi or data.

To download a language, make sure you are connected to WiFi or data and simply click the download symbol next to the language you wish to download. A message will appear on the screen indicating the total amount of storage the particular language will occupy in your device.

The size of the language packages range from 25 MB to 250 MB, which means they will not take up too much room on most smartphones. The downloaded language will allow text translations, but the image and voice translations will still require a WiFi or data connection for now.
