Restaurant

Gracias Madre is a unique restaurant that takes Mexican food to a whole new level. Their fresh takes on classic items and impeccably paired flavors make this a restaurant worth the return trip. The menu is entirely plant-based and mostly gluten-free.

The restaurant reflects Chef Chandra Gilbert’s dream of opening a vegan Mexican restaurant and giving back to the community. All the food is prepared with a mother’s love, hence the name Gracias Madre — thanks, mother. The menu incorporates seasonal items and local produce from local farms, as well as Café Gratitude’s Be Love Farm in Vacaville, Calif. The Seed Initiative program helps preserve maize and heritage corn varieties in the local Be Love Farm’s garden.

Stop by for the special brunch menu, served on weekends, and try the hearty breakfast torta, a grilled sandwich with vegan chorizo, coconut bacon, avocado, cashew nacho cheese, romaine lettuce and tomato. For dessert, you can’t go wrong with the Mexican wedding cookies, served with chocolate sauce, toasted pecans and chocolate-coconut ice cream.

In addition to lunch, dinner, dessert and weekend brunch, Gracias Madre is a destination for creative cocktails. Beverage director Jason Eisner’s inventive drinks earned it the title of one of the Top Tequila Bars in Los Angeles. Be sure to sip on the intensely flavored Mexican mimosa, a blend of habanero-infused elderflower liquor, Gran Classico and blood orange.

If this vegan, organic restaurant doesn’t have you saying “Ole!” nothing will.
