One of the most fascinating and terrifying things about the ocean is how unknowably vast it is. The sheer number and variety of animals we have yet to discover is staggering. One of those we have discovered, though, is smarter than most land animals.
Octopuses come in all different sizes. They have suckers on their tentacles and beaks with which they eat. They are also incredibly intelligent. Here are some of the best aquariums to see them.
The New England Aquarium is one of the best aquariums in the country. This aquarium is home to a Giant Pacific Octopus, which can be found blending into its surroundings on the third level. This aquarium is located right in Boston and is a perfect addition to any trip to the city.
A few hours south, Baltimore is home to the National Aquarium. This one also houses a Giant Pacific Octopus, but has a bunch of other animals, like birds, reptiles and even a Tamarin.
Out on the West Coast, the Monterey Bay Aquarium houses a Giant Pacific Octopus. This aquarium also houses Day octopuses and the Wunderpus.
Because of their intelligence and delicate nature, not every aquarium is able to maintain a robust octopus exhibit, but seeing them, even once, is worth the effort.
