For a beach hike with a view, try Santa Catalina Island. This channel island lies just southwest of Los Angeles and offers amazing views, beaches, diving and wildlife. With breathtaking views overlooking the welcoming beach below, this small island is perfect for an active weekend getaway.
From the giant, ancient trees of Sequoia and Redwood National Park to the desert and rock formations of Joshua Tree and Death Valley National Park, California is a sprawling paradise for hikers and sight-seekers. Some hikes are more challenging and time consuming to achieve, but the view makes many of them all the more worth it.
