Destination weddings give couples a chance to show off their personalities and introduce guests to their favorite places. From formal and elegant to simple and modern, the Scottish capital city has numerous settings for a perfect wedding.
Edinburgh dates back to medieval times, though much of its modern architecture was built in the mid-1700s. It is a city full of friendly pubs, immense history and a sense timeless wildness. The crown jewel of Edinburgh is the Castle perched atop a cliff overlooking its domain. Edinburgh Castle is still an active military post and this monument can be hired for weddings large or small. St. Margaret’s Chapel, built in the 12 century, is situated near the top of the hill and seats 25 guests for a private ceremony. The nearby Jacobite Room is a modern venue within an 18th-century building that can accommodate up to 150 guests.
If the Castle is not royal enough, hire the Britannia. The yacht served more than 40 years as an official ship for the British royal family. It is now harbored in Leith and hosts hundreds of fine events every year. An on-board chef, stunning settings and a top-notch events team make planning a reception easy.
Some who may find the formality of a yacht intimidating may consider the Royal College of Physicians as a venue. Offering both modern and older rooms for various sized weddings, they also include use of a private garden and courtyard. Located in the heart of downtown Edinburgh, it is situated perfectly for a continued night on the town for all the guests.
The city offers a great deal for out-of-town guests to explore while visiting for the wedding and is sure to be fantastic setting for any sized-event.
Those outside of the United Kingdom should research marriage requirements for their country here.
