The honeymoon should be a time of relaxing as a newly married couple. However, all too often, couples take on too much, booking long travel days, bumpy ferry rides and train journeys that are far from romantic. To ensure you don’t have a honeymoon fraught with delays and complications, don’t make these four mistakes when booking your honeymoon transportation.
Booking Flights with Too Many Connections
Some couples make the mistake of biting off more than they can chew in terms of their honeymoon flight route. After the wedding, you don’t want to be stuck in the airport due to all of your connections. The more connections your honeymoon flight route has, the more likely you will be exhausted or face delays and complications. If you can avoid some stops for a little bit more money, it will be worth it for the sake of your honeymoon.
Taking on Too Much Travel in Too Little Time
Honeymooners can get a little overly ambitious when it comes to plotting their honeymoons. You might think you can handle traveling constantly, getting on ferries, trains and planes in a short span of time. However, you don’t want to spend your entire honeymoon actually traveling. Couples should be sure to space out their travel days and never take on too many transportation days in a row.
Booking Rough Sea Travel for the Seasick Prone
You might want to go on a Greek island honeymoon, only to realize most of your travel days will be spent taking ferries. While for some, this isn’t necessarily a problem, for the seasick prone, it can be. Traveling by boat on a honeymoon isn’t always romantic. If you can’t avoid going by water, be sure you are prepared with seasickness medication.
Avoiding Upgrades on Long Travel Days
While you could save money by booking the budget bus ride or that middle seat in economy class on your flight to Paris, couples should try to book comfort upgrades when they can. Weddings are exhausting events, ones that leave both parties drained. You don’t want to be so utterly exhausted you can’t enjoy your honeymoon. Use your long flight over to Paris or that train journey through Italy to get some rest. Upgrades shouldn’t be avoided, especially on the honeymoon.
