Let artistic expression be your guide for upcoming trips with this list of hotels commissioning local graffiti and mural artists to make destinations even more beautiful and appealing for travelers.
Hyatt Centric Las Olas, Fort Lauderdale
Escape to Fort Lauderdale this winter with a stay at the area’s newest hotel, Hyatt Centric Las Olas. Expect nods to South Florida’s iconic beach and boating culture throughout the property. Hyatt Centric Las Olas contracted Miami-based artist Danny Doya to paint mermaid-inspired wall murals in his vibrant, contemporary style. The stunning piece will be the new backdrop of the hotel’s pool deck on the eighth floor.
Casa Palopó, Guatemala
Over in Santa Catarina Palopó on Lake Atitlan, Guatemala, the entire lakeside village is getting a colorful facelift with the help of Pintando Santa Catarina Palopó Project. The artistic endeavor is designed to create beautiful works inspired by local Mayan Kaqchikel heritage on the exterior of the village’s homes and buildings. Casa Palopó, a luxury, boutique hotel in the area, actually spearheaded the project by coordinating supplies and all paint project logistics.
Caribe Hilton, Puerto Rico
Home of the original Piña Colada recipe in 1954, Caribe Hilton is now awarded an official government certificate declaring the beloved cocktail the official drink of Puerto Rico. To commemorate this great honor, the property commissioned local artist David Zaya to create a mural inspired by the drink and local culture. Grab a drink and pose for a picture near this striking stunner.
W Punta de Mita, Riviera Nayarit, Mexico
Take a walk on the wild side at Riviera Nayarit’s W Punta de Mita. Enjoy stunning décor, styled to the tune of local surf culture and indigenous influences. The resort’s artwork, commissioned by Mexican graffiti artist Nacho Bernal, is a can’t-miss for photo ops and just generally mesmerizing summer vibes.
