The opportunities to relax on a plane are reaching new heights, thanks to a new trend that involves yoga on a plane.
What seems like a nearly impossible feat has become a fairly reasonable practice. Long flights can exhaust the body, especially cramped limbs and pooling blood vessels. Most passengers count on periodic strolls up and down the aisles to alleviate tired extremities, but SkyTeam launched an on-demand instructional yoga video to aid travelers who search for alternate ways to stretch and facilitate blood flow, or who cannot access the aisle in the case of sleeping neighbors.
The two available routines were created by a frequent traveler who also happens to be a yoga instructor. Rather than requiring practitioners to stretch out in the aisles and potentially disturb other passengers, the in-flight sequence of yoga moves consists of breathing exercises and stretches that can be performed right from your seat.
A second yoga tutorial can be performed in the airport either before or after your trip. Some airports even have yoga studios inside the terminals so that travelers can take a stretch/breathing break between flights.
Even if you are not flying on one of SkyTeam’s planes, you can do a quick search online for your own yoga routines and put them to use on your next long-haul flight. The next time you have a trans-ocean flight or if you’re just prone to aches and pains after jaunts across the country, utilize some of the recommended breathing and movement exercises to assuage your travel-related maladies.
