A new study from SherpaReport found private air travel is on the rise.
The survey looked at high-end travelers who reportedly invest time into research regarding their best flight options for an upcoming trip. Of those travelers who responded, nearly half said they plan to use private aviation more in the future. Of those who already use private aviation, about 40 percent say they use it for personal reasons, while 31 percent say they use private aviation for both leisure and business travel. Nearly all respondents said they bring friends, family and pets along for their private flights, whether or not the flight is for business or leisure.
So, how are these respondents booking private flights? Nearly half said they had a jet card membership, while a small portion use charter aircraft and an even smaller portion said they either own, or their company owns, a private aircraft. The reason they choose to go private? It’s a time saver.
However, even though these private flyers splurge on a mode of travel others may find out of reach, they still care about cost savings. The majority of those surveyed called more affordable private flying options “enticing.”
