JW Marriott just opened its second resort in the Maldives, as of February. The new property, JW Marriott Kaafu Atoll Island Resort, is a 15-minute boat ride from Velana International Airport, and offers 80 private pool villas, including nearly 50 overwater pool villas. Each villa further features its own terrace, views of the Indian Ocean and water access. A larger residence is available for traveling groups.
The villa’s aesthetic takes inspiration from traditional Maldivian huts, with kajan roofs and turquoise doors. Maldivian lacquerware crafts, natural building materials and similar elements channel the local environment, while indoor-outdoor living spaces and open-air showers connect guests to the surrounding natural habitat.
The resort features seven restaurants and bars, highlighting various international cuisines and “thoughtfully sourced” ingredients. Meanwhile, the on-site spa is the first in the destination to offer treatments utilizing BABOR’s precision skincare products. Other wellness-related amenities include a modern fitness center with ocean views and a lap pool.
“When envisioning this resort, every detail was carefully crafted to reflect the timeless beauty of Maldives, with a focus on creating not just a memorable vacation, but an unforgettable journey,” said Srikanth Devarapalli, general manager, JW Marriott Kaafu Atoll Island Resort. “Our goal is to provide guests with a true sanctuary, where luxury and wellbeing converge. With JW Marriott’s signature warmth and hospitality, we invite guests to fully immerse themselves in the magic of the Maldives, nurturing both the mind and body.”
