Kimpton Seafire Resort & Spa, in Grand Cayman, debuted its new cocktail library bar recently, named Library by the Sea and a first of its kind on the island. The cocktail lounge is a story-telling experience, serving cocktails inspired by literature, poetry and art alongside vintage spirits and vintage books. With narrative at the heart of the concept, patrons find a depth of connectivity in the menus and an engaging staff.
On the menu, the literary-inspired libations are organized by a contents page and four distinct style categories:
- Short Stories, with smaller, aperitif-style drinks
- Page Turners, considered the core of the menu with eight cocktails
- Masterpieces, intended-to-share “showstoppers”
- Rare & First Editions, with limited-edition cocktails involving long-lost or vintage spirits
Try the White Angel in Short Stories, inspired by Holly Golightly from Breakfast at Tiffany’s, or Page Turners’ Almond Blossom, crafted for Vincent Van Gogh’s group of paintings. Find a bit of whimsy with Strike Me Pink!, from the Masterpieces section and inspired by Mary Poppins. From Rare & First Editions, the E. Hemingway Special 275 features 1930’s Bacardi.
Another selection from Rare & First Editions, the $360 Monte Cristo Cocktail, in honor of writer Alexandre Dumas, who wrote The Count of Monte Cristo, is quite unique, as only 25 of these drinks will ever exist.
