Hotel

Portland, Maine, just welcomed its first independent full-service hotel in more than 20 years: The Longfellow Hotel.

The boutique property offers just less than 50 guestrooms and takes inspiration from its namesake: Portland native Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. The property embraces the aesthetic of Maine’s surrounding rugged landscapes, but combines it with elevated tradition to appeal to today’s luxury traveler.

Beyond guestrooms, the property is also home to a counter-service breakfast and lunch restaurant that highlights local ingredients, as well as a European-inspired lobby bar serving classic cocktails, local products and zero-proof drinks. A spa is also on site.

Eco-conscious travelers will be happy to know The Longfellow Hotel takes a sustainable approach through thoughtful touches such as complimentary bicycles for guests, electric luxury car service to Old Port and the use of zero single-use plastics throughout.

“The interiors feel familiar, yet impart a true sense of place, by blending contemporary elements with traditional touches to evoke a modern timelessness. The design establishes a sequence of spaces that invites visitors in, while handsome details encourage them to linger and indulge,” said Jou-Yie Chou, partner, Post Company, the design studio enlisted to bring the hotel concept to life.
