There are several destinations within Mexico that are favorites with LGBT travelers. While it may not surprise you, your best bets for gay-friendly travel are Mexico City, Puerto Vallarta and Cancun.
In Puerto Vallarta, a gorgeous resort town filled with sandy beaches and a bumping nightlife, you’ll find not only all-inclusive adult resorts, but also LGBT-specific hotels. Playa Los Muertos is the beach to be at for gay and gay-friendly visitors.
Mexico City’s LGBT center has been Zona Rosa for years, where the country’s gay scene first emerged in the 1970s. Now you can find LGBT locals and travelers from all walks of life partying in the area, from the more posh and upscale addresses to the more local and low-key bars and dives.
Cancun is known as a party destination in Mexico, but there are more than just eager tourists in this city. The great dining, shopping and venues attract quite a luxury crowd and LGBT people from all over Mexico as well as Latin America in search of jobs and opportunities. You’ll want to not only take advantage of all the attractions Cancun offers, but also mingle with the locals for a sense of where the best parties are at any given time. When it’s time to relax, Playa Delfines is the most popular gay beach in Cancun.
