LGBTQIA+

Prague has become a popular gay destination in recent years, which might seem surprising for a city in the Czech Republic. If you’ve been passing on this vibrant city out of fear or a lack of word about what it has to offer, now’s the time to put that behind you and book that flight.

The heart of gay culture in Prague is centered in Vinohrady near the city center. There are close to 30 different gay clubs in the area, having grown substantially since the Czech Republic legalized gay partnerships in 2006.

Those looking for a relaxing get together will find enjoyment at Café Flirt, one of the newer bars in the area. The split-level club hosts a monthly “Boy Night” for the younger crowd and caters to men and women of all ages throughout the rest of the year. If you’re looking for a little more excitement, Friends is one of the largest and most active clubs in the city. It caters to a younger crowd, but everyone is welcome.

Unfortunately, there don’t seem to be any bars catering to lesbian women at the moment, though you’ll find them out at the local haunts in the city.

For dining, check out Celebrity Café for a good, affordable meal without all the glitz associated with most gay establishments.

The legal age here is younger than what most Americans are used to, so watch for young locals looking to take advantage of tourists’ money. They like to pose as older than they actually are.

Otherwise, Prague is a fun, flirty city for gay men and women and one of the safest to travel to in the country.
