As the price of technology decreases, more and more travelers are incorporating new gadgets into their lives. One trend growing in the wake of the digital revolution is lifelogging, the practice of documenting one’s life through wearable computers. While the idea has been around since the 80s, cameras are now advanced enough to remain discreet and financially feasible, though the ethics of the practice are questionable when it comes to other people’s privacy.
The Narrative Clip is one such lifelogging device that allows users to visually document their lives through photos, automatically snapping a picture every 30 seconds though a 5-megapixel camera. The camera has a 70-degree range of view, but lacks zoom and flash. There is also a GPS chip, magnetometer and an accelerometer to orient pictures the correct way. The device measures at 1.42×1.42×0.35 inches, weights 20 grams and is made to be worn outdoors with a weather-resistant design.
Photos are synced back to a computer through a micro-USB. The company also offers a cloud service called Narrative Uploader, which automatically analyzes and tags your photos. The service is free for one year with the purchase of a Narrative Clip, and is $9 a month after. There is also an app for Android and iOS that pulls uploaded photos from your computer onto the cloud. You can learn more about the Narrative Clip on their website at getnarrative.com.
