Lunar New Year Giveaway from Walker Hotels, Asian American Art Alliance

The Lunar New Year takes place Jan. 29. To celebrate, Walker Hotels, offering boutique properties in both Greenwich Village and Tribeca, and Asian American Art Alliance, dedicated to strengthening Asian American artists and cultural groups, will ring in Year of the Snake with a red envelope giveaway for chances to win prizes including up to $500 in cash and a free hotel stay.

In Chinese culture, traditional red envelopes are given on Lunar New Year to represent good fortune as they are typically filled with money. Walker Hotels will gift red envelopes to all guests who check in at either Walker Hotel Greenwich Village or Walker Hotel Tribeca Jan. 27–31. Each envelope will contain cash, a complimentary dinner at hotel restaurants Society Café or Mostrador, or a free stay at each hotel.

As part of the partnership, A4 produced the custom-designed red envelope. Gentle Oriental, a Brooklyn-based Chinese-Indonesian artist aka Gabrielle Widjaja, was inspired by traditional Chinese art, the Year of the Snake and the Walker Hotels logo.

Walker Hotel Tribeca, on the border of Chinatown, offers 171 guestrooms and four food and beverage outlets in a building that was formerly a button and ribbon factory.
