Beauty has entered a new digital era. One of the newest apps, Makeup Genius by L’Oréal Paris uses your smartphone’s front-facing camera to let you try on eye shadows, eyeliners, lipsticks, lip glosses and blushes in real time (as opposed to on a photo of yourself). The app is currently available for iOS.
The app instantly identifies your skin tone and feature, and then virtually applies the makeup you choose to your face. The virtual magic mirror also takes application one step further by showing products on your face as you move. You’ll get to see your chosen lipstick as you smile, your eye shadow as you blink,or your blush when you’re looking up.
The app contains every L’Oreal cosmetic product available, excluding foundations, bronzers and mascaras. The app also offers a library of looks from makeup designers to try.
Finally, consumers won’t get stuck with products they tried once and tossed into a makeup bag. For the buyers who head to the department or beauty store, trying on different products can be tedious and irritating. Imagine using testers for a lip gloss, wiping away with alcohol, starting over and then repeating the same process for every product. The futuristic app takes the guess work out of trying makeup and solves the age-old crisis of matching the right colors for your complexion.
