Tennis player Rafael Nadal teamed with Meliá Hotels International to launch ZEL, dubbed “a new brand of resort and urban leisure hotels.” The hotels first debut in Spain, with plans to expand in Europe, the Middle East, Asia and the Americas.

“As a Spaniard, a Mallorcan and a global traveler, the launch of this hotel brand is a project that I have had in my mind for a long time,” said Rafael Nadal. “ZEL will be synonymous with feeling good and enjoying the Mediterranean lifestyle. I was really attracted to this new concept with Meliá from the start and I am confident that ZEL will be a huge success and will be enjoyed by every type of traveler.”
ZEL guests can look forward to properties boasting Mediterranean vibes with a range of different collaborations across cuisine, design, well-being and technology. An emphasis on the outdoors pairs with spacious, bright interior spaces. A central courtyard will lead to other public areas, like terraces, rooftops and beach clubs. A digital community keeps the stay alive, allowing guests to share their experiences. Rotating pop-ups look to feature local crafters, artists, beauty products and culinary offerings.

The first ZEL is slated to open in Mallorca in 2023, with a goal to open more than 20 ZEL hotels in five years.
