Nepal certainly isn’t lacking for great dining destinations, but the Moondance Restaurant in Pokhara stands steps above the rest. The atmosphere is lively and yet relaxing, with splendid views from the balcony overlooking the water and the food is a fantastic mix of European, Nepalese and Asian cuisine.
Moondance serves both lunch and dinner and my friends and I decided to stop in for an evening meal. The line was short due to a relative lack of tourism in the area these days, but normally it forms outside the door, we were told. We ordered pitchers of sangria and the Moondance Special, a pink concoction that tasted just the right amount of fruity to get things started.
We also tried the hummus platter as a precursor to our meal. My main course consisted of the boneless wild boar stew with tomatoes and herbs, while my friends got the rainbow trout fillet and the tenderloin steak sizzler, both of which I might’ve stolen some bites from. I can honestly say there wasn’t single bite of food I wasn’t thrilled with.
The menu here is extensive and contains dishes from all over the world, from Thai curry to tandoori, with a little bit of lasagna thrown in. They even have vegetarian options! There’s something for everyone, and I highly recommend a visit if you’re in town.
The prices are fair for the area and the food is fresh, so I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Mar 25, 2025Oldest Rodeo in United States Returns This May
Did you know the oldest rodeo in the United States isn’t out west at all, but rather in New Jersey? Cowtown Rodeo in Pilesgrove, New Jersey, started back in 1929 by Howard “Stoney” Harris Jr. and his father. The event became so popular, it eventually moved to a 4,000-seat arena in 1967, and now fifth-generation owners Katy and RJ Griscom keep the cowboy spirit alive with bucking broncs, fearless bull riders and barrel-racing. In fact, today’s bucking horses descended from legends of the 1970s.
