If you already have your eye on attending the 2026 Winter Olympics, you may want to consider booking a stay at one particular property while there. As of next year, the historic Hotel Cristallo in Cortina dAmpezzo, Italy, will shut down for substantial renovations, reopening in mid-2025 as Mandarin Oriental Cristallo, Cortina.

The first Mandarin Oriental alpine resort, the property sits in the Dolomites and lies within walking distance of Cortina d’Ampezzo. The recognizable village, christened the Queen of the Dolomites, offers plenty for travelers to enjoy and experience beyond attending the Olympic Games.

The prior Art Nouveau Hotel Cristallo was built in 1901 and served as a ski destination for royals and celebrities, from Frank Sinatra to Vladimir Nabokov. The hotel also served as a backdrop for a range of films. Once the renovations are complete, the property will offer more than 80 guestrooms, including 30 suites, a handful of restaurants and bars, event space and a spa. Resort activities will include skiing, golf, cross-country hiking, tennis and ice skating, among others.

We are excited to be restoring this famous property to its former glory in advance of the 2026 Milano-Cortina Winter Olympics, while also creating a unique sense of modern luxury for international travelers,” said David Alhadeff of Attestor Limited, in a management partnership with Mandarin Oriental.
