The newest Pete Dye-designed golf course, Full Cry, opens today at Keswick Hall, the 600-acre luxury resort set in Virginia’s Hunt Country. The course, perched at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains, traverses the area’s rolling terrain.
The greens, with the exception of one, have open fronts and are approachable through the air or on the ground. The Redan-style par-3 No. 16 hole is modeled after the famous 15th hole at Scotland’s North Berwick, while the par-5 17th hole runs parallel to train tracks. The par-4 18th finishing hole offers a panoramic view of Hunt Country.
Pete Dye is one of the most influential modern golf course architects, with credits including Ocean Course at Kiawah Island Resort and Harbour Town Golf Links at The Sea Pines Resort.
The course also features a practice range and short game facilities. The range features multiple grass tees, a huge practice putting green and a short game chipping/putting area.
Keswick Hall features refreshed accommodations, spa services, fine dining and other amenities, a perfect spot to unwind after playing 18 holes. The area surrounding the new course is home to Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello, the University of Virginia and other outdoor pursuits.
