While weddings will always be associated with white, there is no reason not to throw a splash of color into your bridal ensemble. With colored belts to sashes or sassy shoes, there is no reason your favorite color has to take a backseat on your big day.
Bold colors such as bright orange or cobalt blue work best in small doses while more subdued hues can be used more frequently. Choosing strong accent colors in your bouquet is another fun way to add some color into your wedding. As for the dress itself, subtle patterns, textures and lace overlays are another way to add pizzazz to your wedding dress.
Blush and ivory are now debuting at runway shows and even replacing the all white dress. Dresses with some color may look better on certain complexions; don’t feel limited to pure white.
Although it may seem novel, the non-white wedding dress is nothing new. Many non-Western cultures have colorful wedding dresses — ranging from red to yellow to black. Choose whichever color makes you feel most confident — whether it is a throwback to tradition or an entirely new color scheme — your dress can be as unique as you are.
