Since JetBlue’s recent announcement about its intentions to explore trans-Atlantic travel, they teamed up with Norwegian Air to turn this idea into reality.
Pending the finalization of an agreement, starting mid-2020, the two airlines would collaborate to connect some of JetBlue’s loyal customers to international flights on Norwegian, the low-cost, long-haul airline, to continue their journey to European destinations. Travelers will only need to make one booking in order to fly with both airlines.
Travelers from one of JetBlue’s 100 points of origins can connect via U.S. cities such as New York, Boston and Fort Lauderdale, where Norwegian is based, and can travel onward to Norwegian’s destinations at London Gatwick, Paris, Rome and Barcelona, among 20 other European cities.
This is one of the first steps in JetBlue’s move to expand eastward and soon offer flights across the pond for its loyal customers, as well as for Norwegian to capture new customers who may have written off a European vacation due to high airfare. The announcement also comes at a good time for Norwegian, which has plans to expand its service to certain European cities by summer 2020, upping the flight frequency and giving Americans more options to travel across the Atlantic.
