Opoli Technologies became the first rideshare app approved to service San Diego International Airport on June 1. The peer-to-peer service is the only rideshare option for passengers in need of a ride from the airport, as part of the airport’s pilot rideshare program.
Both scheduled reservations and immediate pick-up/drop-off needs are met at San Diego International Airport with Opoli. The service also offers a curbside concierge to assist in booking and arranging one of Opoli’s eight-passenger shuttle vans or personal drivers.
“San Diego International Airport users want a variety of transportation options for getting to and from the airport, and we’re happy to now add ridesharing to their list with the start of service by Opoli,” said Thella F. Bowers, president and CEO, San Diego County Regional Airport Authority. “This ridesharing program allows the airport to welcome new service providers while maintaining a safe, fair and orderly environment for all of our commercial ground transportation operators.”

Opoli is unique in its pricing options — it’s surge-free and allows users to name their price for a desired fare. Nearby drivers can accept the fare or make a counter-offer. The final price is agreed upon before pick-up, and there are no increases for peak hours or holidays; 100 percent of the fare goes to the driver. Drivers are thoroughly screened.
Opoli transactions are completed through the app, and rides can be scheduled in advance or as needed. The app is currently available for iOS and Android.
