From the brilliant minds behind Toy Story, Wall-E and Monsters, Inc., comes an exhibition about making the magic. Pixar’s 25 Years of Animation exhibition is an exposé into the creative process. In the exhibition, each of the Pixar films gets its own exhibit and takes the viewer from early character sketches through to a rendered product.
The idea behind the exhibition is to give the public a window into all of the creativity and hard work that goes on behind the scenes at a Pixar film. It isn’t all about computers, either. Hand drawings, paintings, pastels and sculptures are all on display, and it is breathtaking to realize the scope and depth of artistry behind a Pixar movie. Guests will be delighted to see their favorite characters grow from an idea on a scrap of paper into actuality before their eyes and marvel at the development of a barely identifiable draft into a character they know and love.
Another highlight of the exhibition is the artistry that builds the Pixar worlds. The guest is invited into the mind of the artist as they experiment and create, constructing a world for the movies to inhabit — and along the way some truly magnificent pieces.
The 25 Years of Animation exhibition is a continuation of Pixar’s 20 Years of Animation exhibition, which kicked off in New York and has been traveling around the world since, updating the show with materials from new projects and refurbishing it with artwork from the archives. The exhibition is currently in Zaragoza, Spain, before moving to its last stop in Barcelona.
Diving into the world of Pixar’s creative processes is a truly eye-opening and enriching experience.
