Reviews / Restaurant

Ever since the Bravo television show Vanderpump Rules hit the airwaves in 2013, the strip of North Robertson Boulevard in Los Angeles has become the go-to avenue for owner Lisa Vanderpump’s hottest restaurants in West Hollywood. The newest of the restaurateur’s hot spots is Pump, a chic bar and restaurant located on the corner of Santa Monica Boulevard in the heart of L.A.’s Boys Town.

Upon entering the steel gates, visitors are transported to a romantic terrace that mimics a casual outdoor eatery similar to those found on the Mediterranean coast. Imported olive trees shade the cozy patio where a central square bar features dazzling chandeliers and bartenders in pale pink shirts serving matching cocktails. Guests can nestle into comfortably padded benches surrounding old wooden chests as tables while sipping on flirty libations such as the Pumptini (vodka, fresh grapefruit, lime and muddled raspberry) or the Pump and Glory (vodka, St. Germain, lime, muddled cucumber and mint).

After drinks at the bar, dinner can take place at the front of the patio or just inside the restaurant’s barely noticeable walls. Starters include sesame salmon tartare served with crème fraiche, and entrées feature American-inspired dishes such as grilled skirt steak with Lisa’s potato salad or pan-seared Pacific sole.

Pump provides the perfect fairy-tale setting for both a seductive dinner date and a night of friendly cocktails, all in the heart of Hollywood.
